Cpl Milner's number, 4470649, is the highest I have found on the CWGC casualty database in the traditional 443-447 series seven figure DLI numbers allocation, which was in force from 1919 to 1942. In mid-1942 a new eight figure, General Service numbering system was introduced by the British Army. All DLI recruits from this time were assigned these eight figure numbers.
