The number sequence from around 4469420 to 44696999 seems to have been allocated to men called up direct to the Recruit Company of 16 DLI at Folkstone and then Rye in December 1941. These men were trained from scratch with 16 DLI, thus it seems that most of these men through to around 44696999 will have began their Army careers in the 16th DLI. However, 14 DLI was also at Folkstone at this time and it seems that at least some of these recruits went straight to 14 DLI. Further details requested.
