It's probable that the block of numbers assigned to 16 DLI at Edinburgh in 1940 begins around this point. Note the large number of confirmed 16 DLI soldiers in the sequence below who were with the unit from the start, compared to the scattered few in the listing above, which seems to be of men originally enlisted in 14 DLI.
