Robertson, Pte Wilfred, 4462526. Died 8/12/43, following service with 6 DLI, aged 30. Son of William Henry and Isobel Robertson, of Sunderland, Co Durham; husband of Elizabeth Annie Robertson, of Hendon, Sunderland. Ancona War Cemetery, 3 D 9. Died as a POW.

Killed in US air raid of 8/12/43 on the railway station and viaduct at Aquila, which hit a train full of POWs being shipped to Germany. At least 34 British, POWs died, four of whom were DLI.
